June Gloom Meets Summer Sun

I was making my way through the Los Padres National Forest, taking the 33 from Ojai to Carrizo Plain, when the clouds lifted and revealed a crystal blue sky.

It was the perfect opportunity to pop up my rig and enjoy the stunning scenery. After the recent Thomas fire, I have an even deeper appreciation for the beauty and fragility of this landscape.

Driving out of the thick fog, the clouds almost appeared to be covering the scorched mountains like a bandage. The lush green areas popped with vibrant color while puffs of white and grey covered that which was still healing.

I felt blessed to fly in the warm Summer sun, watching the clouds move over the mountain. Aside from an occasional car in the distance, I had the entire area all to myself. It's times like this in quiet and solitude that I often feel refreshed.

What is refreshing you today?
