Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams
In my family, it’s always the right time for ice cream! I grew up watching my dad make his own small batch specialty ice cream, “Docs Old-Fashioned Hickory Hollow”…and he even created a special flavor just for me, “Dawn Marie Delight” (my favorite ice cream ever!😍🍦). Living so far away from my family is tough, not always being able to visit and celebrate special occasions in person. This past week was my dad’s birthday, and to make the miles between us feel not quite so distant, I was thrilled to join the birthday celebration in spirit by sharing one of my favorite frozen treats with him, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.
Nate and I visit our local Jeni’s (at the Calabasas Commons) often for an ice cream treat on date nights. I love the delicious flavors and the perfectly smooth, creamy consistency. Growing up, my dad taught me all about what goes into creating great flavor and texture in ice cream, and Jeni’s always hits a sweet note.
The company works to create transparency and trust by using the highest quality local growers, suppliers and markets. To be a good steward of our environment, over 95 percent of what is purchased in Jeni’s storefronts is reusable, recyclable, or compostable. Jeni’s was one of the first ice cream companies to source only compostable bowls, spoons, and napkins in their local scoop shops.
I love the mix of classic and unique flavors Jeni’s has to offer. My personal favorite flavor combinations is Brambleberry Crisp and Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flecks. When combined it’s like the most incredible version of an ice cream PB&J with a hint of chocolate (so good!) If you happen to be dairy free, Texas Sheet Cake is super smooth and creamy.
I love purchasing Jeni’s by the pint for a sweet treat at home as well. Right now, when you purchase 3 or more pints in store, you receive a free reusable Jeni’s cool bag. Any time you bring back your Jeni’s cool bag, you receive a dollar off every pint you purchase. I have brought mine back more than a few times! 😉If you don’t have a Jeni’s Scoop Shop close by, you can still order by the pint online…they even have a Pint Club…sign me up!🍦
I’d love to hear from you. What’s your favorite ice cream flavor and who makes it?
