L.A.'s Best Christmas Light Displays
“I bring you good tiding of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”
– Luke 2:10-11
I’m so excited that Christmas is upon us. Growing up in Iowa, I could predict exactly what Christmas Eve would look like at our house. First we’d head to church in the afternoon. Then we would grab some Pizza Hut pizza to nosh on at home. And finally we would all pile into the car to go exploring Christmas lights around our snowy town. To this day, finding local Christmas light displays is one of my favorite holiday traditions.
When I moved from New York City to Woodland Hills, I fell in love with the holiday lights at Candy Cane Lane. Founded in 1952, eight residential blocks in the San Fernando Valley have been delighting kids young and old with spectacular Christmas displays for over 60 years! Nate grew up driving through this neighborhood with his family every year, and now we enjoy walking the streets together at Christmas time. It can get pretty crowded here starting the second week of December, and you may want to bring a few bucks to purchase hot cocoa and cookies from the neighborhood kids. This is a must visit holiday neighborhood in the Valley. In addition to Candy Cane Lane, below I am sharing some of the other wonderful Christmas displays I’ve discovered in LA over the years.
